Eyewear is serving actively stylish looks for the spring 2025 season – with brands within the Safilo Group locking into key trends in a consciously “oversize” way.
Known for infusing innovative designs that utilize technology and relevant designs, Safilo Group’s eyewear brands include Boss, Hugo, Tommy Hilfiger, Etro, Marc Jacobs and Stuart Weitzman, among many others. The company has subsidiaries in 40 countries, with more than 50 partners in 70 countries. And at just over 90 years, “see the world at its best” remains the guiding principle for which Safilo aims to shape the future of eyewear.
According to the Safilo Group design, this season eyewear is in a moment of evolution, taking glasses beyond mere sports functionality to become stylish accessories for active lifestyles and outdoor activities. The trend is clearly visible across several brands with clear examples including the latest looks from Carrera’s relaunched C-Sport line, along with Under Armour and Hugo eyewear collections.
Oversized and bold designs, key elements for the season, are seen in Carrera and Eyewear by David Beckham. Details reflect striking, architectural designs with faceted volumes, achieving lightness through innovative construction and ultralight materials. Carrera continues to showcase mask-style eyewear, hitting the trend in its signature style.
Other key trends featured from Safilo Group this season include large prominent logos, and maximum lightness with the use of metal and jewelry-inspired details/embellishments. Perhaps most notably, this is seen in the inaugural collection of Stuart Weitzman sunglasses. The range of two-tone frames includes metal details while the Ultrastuart pieces feature crystal embellishments. Always on trend, the Marc Jacobs collection embraces bold details, daring shapes and oversized “The Sunglasses” and “The Glasses” lines to capture the brand’s signature unexpected and irreverent spirit.
Here, Fairchild Studio highlights pieces from Carrera, Eyewear by David Beckham, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman from the spring 2025 collections.
1. Kate Spade New York: KS Vivi 2/G/S Sunglasses
Kate Spade’s spring collection is designed with nuanced details, and thoughtfully constructed throughout to celebrate the brand’s signature elements. Styles in the collection are created not only with different fittings in mind (like the low bridge) but also to consider all sizes. The Vivi style is playful, inspired by flower petals. The frame is crafted in a multilayer acetate front and embellished with inner layers revealed through a skillful milling technique. “Hello Sunshine” is inscribed on the inside right temple.
2. Stuart Weitzman’s Ultrastuart Crystal Cat-eye Sunglasses
The brand’s most fashion-forward silhouette of Stuart Weitzman’s sunglasses debut, the crystal cat-eye design features an oversized frame and crystal embellishments with shaded lenses. The full collection is Made in Italy and stays true to the brand’s signature minimalist, sophisticated design DNA. Each silhouette is crafted for style and comfort to inspire women with strength and confidence.
3. Carrera Sport: C Sport 1/S – Carrera Sport Special Edition
Always bold and contemporary Carrera Sport is back and highlights details that are unmistakably Carrera. The Italian eyewear brand introduces a new bold and contemporary collection this season, while remaining “synonymous with pioneering design and outstanding quality and has become a statement brand designed for people who live by their own rules, continuously defying themselves and proudly approaching life standing out from the crowd.” Inspired by Carrera Sport’s original shapes this oversized wraparound mask design comes with a double lens with an interchangeable magnetic system elevating the sporty vibe with technical details.
4. Eyewear by David Beckham: The DB 9/Voyager Sunglasses
Created by Safilo in David Beckham’s vision the spring 2025 collection is developed with exquisite craftsmanship, high-quality materials and distinctive details. The distinctive Talisman with its iconic detail inspired by the wings of a bird which symbolizes power, protection and freedom is featured in the collection on the front and side of the eyewear as a characteristic unique to Eyewear by David Beckham alongside the DB monogram, which has been lasered on the frontal sun lenses. This timeless design is inspired by Beckham’s passion for motorcycles. Oversized aviators, the eyewear is available in three colorways, each is designed with matte gold temples.
