Pointing specifically to Purdori’s Age-Protective Serum (a formula with up to 80 percent RO-ICE+™) Sylvia Leung, founder of Purdori, said consumers can feel a richer, more potent skin care experience that proves Purdori’s greater skin care efficacy. In addition to the 80 percent RO-ICE+™, the remaining 20 percent of the Age-Protective Serum is composed of unique, gentle, yet powerful botanical ingredients such as Japanese knotweed, gotu kola, rhododendron and green tea extracts that truly help optimize skin health.
At the center of the RO-ICE+™ formulation is ice plant, a succulent resilient in harsh conditions. Leung said she was fascinated by the power of the ice plant which was a key motivator in creating the product line having seen its high efficacy.
After discovering ice plant, Leung worked with an elite team of scientists, physicians, and chemists, adding aloe vera and rose water to the formulation which was then tested thoroughly to fine-tune the ingredient levels. Rose water helps to protect against free radical damage, speed up wound healing, reduce redness, and soothe inflammation. Ice plant extract helps repair the skin barrier, balance the skin’s natural moisture, and encourage collagen biosynthesis.
Together the three ingredients that make up RO-ICE+™ create balance and address a wide range of skin issues, from inflammation to redness to dryness and healing. Purdori’s research team told Fairchild Studio that while consumers could try using aloe vera, ice plant extract, and rose water separately, they would not receive the full benefits, nor the thoughtfully sourced and powerful botanicals provided by Purdori’s RO-ICE+™ formula.
Separately, while aloe vera is a commonly used ingredient in skin care due to its moisturizing and healing properties, rose water is less common as an ingredient, but studies show it is effective. Ice plant extract remains a rare ingredient in skin care, but Leung told Fairchild Studio she expects conversations about its use will pick up in the coming years.
