For Ivo Pitanguy’s newest launch, Triple Action Hydra Serum, the brand called upon someone who certainly has thought long and hard about the aging process — the 80-year-old model, Carmen Dell’Orefice, who is still working after 66 years in the business. “[This product] seals skin to keep it hydrated and absorbs quickly, said Dell’Orefice, who doubles as an unofficial fan of the brand. “Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize,” she responded, when asked what is her biggest antiaging beauty secret. “It’s a choice to keep your body healthy.”
Triple Action Hydra Serum, $150 for 1 oz., contains peptide HPt4 and cacteen, which mimics the water-preservation properties of the cactus. It is designed to address dehydration of the face and neck. Also at work in the antisagging formula are papaya, aloe vera extract and acai oil to repair the outer layer of the epidermis as well as extract of centella asiatica plant and organic silicon to aid in the production of collagen. It will be available at Bergdorf Goodman and select Neiman Marcus doors in December.
For Dell’Orefice, looking good is predominantly a state of mind. “It’s just as much about the genes as it is how I feel about living,” she said. “You have to do what makes you feel good day in and day out.”
To that end, Dell’Orefice, who in July was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from University of the Arts London, said she makes staying active a priority — including swimming as often as twice a week. Dell’Orefice has also recently shot fashion editorials with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, the U.K.’s Hello magazine and will be featured in Chico’s upcoming holiday catalogue.
When asked when she would retire from the modeling industry, Dell’Orefice, who grew up during the Great Depression, said cheekily, “I retire every night.” She added, “When do you tire of doing what you like to do?”
