Tigi, the Unilever-owned hair products line, has launched a new collection as part of its Bed Head range, called Candy Fixations.
The texture and styling range takes its inspiration from sugar-laced confectionery and comprises five products, which range from Mega Whip, a whipped marshmallow hair texturizer, through to Sugar Dust, a dry shampoo-type invisible micro-texture root powder.
Bed Head brand ambassador Gen Itoh and Tigi creative team member Maria Kovacs, who launched the collection in London earlier this month, said the line grew out of the trend they’d seen for “girls liking to dress their hair more than before,” Kovacs said. The line is also inspired by the DIY aesthetic of London style tribes, such as punks and rockabillies, who would use concoctions made with sugar and eggs to achieve their extreme styles. However, the duo underscored that Tigi’s take on the trend is made up of ultralight formulations that can be layered into the hair. The collection launches in November through professional salons in the U.K., and launched earlier this month in the U.S. Prices for the collection start at about $18.
