Inglot Opening German Flagship

The Polish color cosmetics company, which has stores around the world, has finally added European neighbor Germany to its markets list.

BERLIN — Inglot is expanding again.

The Polish color cosmetics company, which has stores around the world — from Abu Dhabi to Dublin to Katmandu — has finally added European neighbor Germany to its markets list, opening a  flagship in Düsseldorf’s newly refurbished and reopened Sevens shopping center. Working with German franchise partners, a plan for country-wide growth will be ready in early 2012, with the Düsseldorf store serving as a staff training ground for new locations. But that’s just the start.

Inglot’s broad range of colors and stackable magnetic pans and palettes have become a hit with consumers and makeup artists alike. The company’s biggest store, a 5,000 square foot space in New York’s Chelsea Market called The Studio by Inglot, is aimed to please the pro crowd. Said Wojtek Inglot, company founder and president, “It was designed for professionals, they can spend some time, play around and of course use all the products. They also can bring their models, work on them, and shoot some pictures because the photo studio is there. The studio can also be used for meetings, seminars and training.”

Inglot has also participated in The Makeup Show in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, as well as the show’s first foray into Europe, in Berlin in September. “We were lucky that it happened just a few weeks before the Düsseldorf store opening,” said Inglot. “Response was great. It was important because many attendees were professional makeup artists.”

The family-owned chain currently has 290 stores and point of sales; 125 are outside of Poland. The company says it plans to open at least 50 additional stores in the coming year. Also coming up is what Inglot calls “a big project” with a number of department stores. The cosmetics brand will have a presence in Macy’s in the U.S., Woolworths in South Africa, Coin in Italy, Sears in Mexico, and V&D in the Netherlands.
