Nanette Lepore Hosts Picasso’s Muses

Orange returned to the lips once again this fashion week at Nanette Lepore, thanks to makeup artist Polly Osmond.

Orange returned to the lips once again this fashion week at Nanette Lepore, thanks to makeup artist Polly Osmond, who worked backstage on behalf of MAC Cosmetics. “There’s a lot of orange in the clothes,” she noted.

Inspiration, said Osmond, was “based on Picasso’s mistresses and the paintings of Picasso.” Brows, like lips, were bold. Osmond brushed over the brows heavily to give lots of definition.

Cheeks were “healthy peach,” while the top eyelids got a stroke of black liner and lower lids, a row of faux lashes — “for a smudgy feeling under the eye,” said Osmond.

Rough, Fifties updos characterized the hair at Nanette Lepore. “We did these French twists,” said hairstylist Jimmy Paul, who created the look for Bumble and bumble. “But they’re not perfect; there are lots of flyaways.”

For “roughness and volume” Paul first sprayed locks with Thickening Spray, then curled the hair to add body. Tresses were teased near the root then put up into the twists.

Bangs were swept elegantly across the forehead from side parts. A spritz of Does It All hair spray was used to keep it all in place.
