Big Hair and Fresh Faces at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Hairstylist Guido Palau kept the hair big at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show for the second day in a row, in line with Jacob’s signature collection on Monday. The look he created for Redken backstage at the show was inspired by the Forties. “It’s the daughter of the woman last night, who’s a little ‘punky’,” said Palau. “I did it to compliment the clothes since I’m seeing lots of big shapes and hair texture.”

To create the look, he used Redken Thickening Lotion and set rollers in the hair to set it, followed by teasing it and wrapping it up in a slightly Forties manner that was still punky. On some models, he would spray color the hair – using hot pink on the women and blue on the men.

For makeup, Dick Page was going after a fresh and natural look. “We played around with tests but then decided nothing would be the best thing and they look the prettiest with no makeup on,” said Page, adding that he was going after that “just washed your face” appearance. To create the look, he used little base and cover up as needed, but used no powder and color. On the lips, he used lip balm and on occasion Eucerin Aquaphor.
