A Rosy Glow at Luella

Guido Palau, working with Redken, created four styles for the Luella show on Monday.

“They’re a little cartoon-y characters, a little punky,” he said. Models’ hair was either secured in bunches, pinned underneath in a bob, supplemented with Crayola-hued bangs or simply pinned to the side with a pin. Texture, however, was a common theme. “It’s a flat, matte. non-descript texture,” Palau explained.

Hair was rough dried and Redken Thickening Lotion and sometimes baby powder was used to create texture. “Shine doesn’t seem right at the moment, it’s too luxurious,” he added. The looks were finished off with a little Quick Dry Instant Finishing Spray.

Makeup was about as minimalist as it gets at the show, with the exception of a few models who sported pouts in flashy hues. Hannah Murray, working with Shu Uemura, first exfoliated the skin with Shu Uemura White Recovery Ex Gentle Brightening Massage Gel and then dotted any imperfections with concealer.

“It’s all about preparation,” she said, adding brows were brushed with gel. “It’s very very simple fresh and healthy.” She used sheer lipsticks on cheeks to add a hint of color to give a healthy glow.
