“We were thinking of Eighties gorgeousness,” said Val Garland, working with MAC Cosmetics at Emanuel Ungaro. “It’s all about gorgeous, healthy, real beautiful skin. It’s not really about makeup.”
The one feature she highlighted on models’ faces were eyebrows, making them look “boyish,” in Garland’s words. “And that is it.” Among the products she used were Mineralize Timecheck Lotion and Skinfinish Natural powders, plus brow gels.
Hairstylist Pier Paolo said there was a Seventies, early Eighties inspiration for the look he crafted, which also took a cue from a top model of that time, Carol Alt.
“She was really beautiful, with long hair; she was amazing,” said Paolo, who was working with L’Oréal Paris products.
He described the style fashion for the models as “laid-back” and “simple,” with tresses around their heads slicked back with comb marks left in, and a wave movement created at the back. Key products he used included Elnett Crème de Mousse.
