New jewelry line Fortune Favors the Brave pays homage to traditional Southwestern themes.
The 19-piece debut collection, whose name is derived from a Latin proverb, is comprised of necklaces, bracelets and rings in silver-plated brass, 22-karat gold-plated brass and sterling silver. The brand, recently picked up by Shopbop for the holiday season, is also sold on its Web site, fortunefavorsthebravenyc.com. The line wholesales for $66 to $140.
Founders Shannon Davenport and Julia Wilson’s long-standing interest in Navajo crafts has resulted in a collection rife with silver and turquoise.
“We’re from California, so the Southwestern Navajo thing really made sense for us,” Wilson said. “There were these beautiful metal pieces that existed in traditional Western wear, but we never saw it on jewelry. We wanted to translate that concept into something you can wear on a cuff or on a necklace.”
