It’s an urban jungle out there — so why not look the part? That’s the thinking at Roger Vivier, which showcased a vibrant and richly textured African-themed collection at its presentation in the salons of the Maison de l’Amérique Latine over the weekend. Colored animal prints, polka dots and ikat-inspired silks collided in the Booboo Mix clutches and Metro bags, while other leopard-print styles were decorated with cute animals and reptiles made from raffia and varnished cork. Shoulder bags, shoppers and shoes worked in faceted geometric soft leather appliqués were featured in the new Prismick collection. “It’s about the 3-D interpretation of volume,” said creative director Bruno Frisoni, citing among his inspirations the work of artists and architects like Xavier Veilhan and Rem Koolhaas. Highlights included the yellow, black and white T-Bar Chic sandal. The brand has also revisited its iconic ballerina in 10 brightly colored patent leather versions, baptized Gommettes Color Block.
