Sang A Im-Propp veered out of her comfort zone for her first group of nonexotic-leather handbags since launching her collection in 2006. Starting in the spring, the designer’s namesake line will be 40 percent exotic and 60 percent leather bags — a move toward contemporary price points that will enable the brand to reach a wider customer base.
Im-Propp said she hopes to increase the number of doors by 200 percent in the next few years. The new offerings — done in a palette of red, chambray, black, taupe and lavender — will come in some of the brand’s signature styles, such as the Flash Parallelogram clutch and the slouchy Pop tote.
The collection will be sold at Kirna Zabête, Scoop, Kisan and sanga.com and retails from $495 to $995.
