MILAN — Giorgio Armani is launching prescription frames steeped in tradition.
Describing the project as a return to the sober and powerful look that characterized Armani eyewear, the designer said the new line pushes “pure designs that avoid artificial, uneasy or impossible forms.”
The retro-style, hand-assembled models were inspired by archival Armani designs and are manufactured using techniques that evoke the Forties, such as a frame featuring hinges attached by riveted pins.
Priced between $250 and $300, the prescription frames roll out to select eyewear stores worldwide this month. A sales forecast was unavailable.
Of the 13 unisex styles, the only female model is a Fifties-inspired butterfly design available in crystallized shades of violet, pink, black and honey.
