NEW YORK — Accessory trends at the ENK International-produced Accessorie Circuit trade show mirrored those seen on ready-to-wear runways for spring.
It’s clear that pastels — from pinks to yellows to soft shades of peach, lilac and seafoam green — are a key trend for the impending warmer months. This motif took hold across the board, from fine and contemporary jewelry to handbags.
About 400 exhibitors — such as Anton Heunis, Alexis Bittar, Suzanne Kalan, Miguel Ases, Gemma Redux, Elizabeth Cole, Noir, Paige Novick, Sydney Evan, Allibelle, Kenneth Jay Lane, Kara Ross and Ted Rossi — displayed their latest spring and summer collections in the show, which ran from Jan. 8 to Jan. 10 at The Show Piers here.
“Pastels are hot right now; it’s all about color neutralized with earthy accents,” Miguel Ases said of his new range of bracelets, necklaces and earrings comprised of crystals such as prehnite quartz. The collection ranges in price from $60 to $500 and is sold at Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.

Gemma Redux designer Rachel Dooley agreed. She said her bestsellers at the moment are pieces that consist of rose quartz or blue lace agate, versus the “bright turquoisy” fare she’s been doing a lot of in recent seasons.
New handbag line Allibelle — whose premier collection launches on bloomingdales.com in March — has incorporated the same color palette, including a peach version of its current bestseller, the Arrowhead Convertible Tote, which retails for $450.
Ted Rossi did particularly well this show with its pastel offerings — including python cuffs that retail from $125 to $160 in peach or pink, adorned with gold accents, pyramids or neon detailing. According to a spokesperson for the brand, there are two specific customers at the show: a preppy one making a beeline for the pastels and the one that gravitates toward brights and neons, which are still more popular than ever for the brand.
The same goes for Noir, which continues to see an uptick in the sale of neon-colored jewelry from buyers. Neon yellow and pink are doing particularly well — especially $165 earrings and a $290 necklace made of neon yellow Jaipur rope with Swarovski Elements. The $249 Highlight necklace — a new motif for the brand that also features neon yellow rope, but with brass-plated rhodium spikes and Czech crystals — also did well.
Pastels and neon aside, yellow and rose gold continue to be popular with retailers. A gold- plated, woven cuff was a bestseller at Kenneth Jay Lane, as well as pieces with neutral colored gemstones such as white sapphires, quartz and even gray agate slices.
Designer Suzanne Kalan introduced a 14-karat gold range, Kalan by Suzanne Kalan, which retails for nearly a tenth of her previous gold jewelry made from 18-karat gold (that ranges in retail price from $4,000 to $10,000). She still offers pieces fashioned from the latter, but the new, lower-priced offerings, which retail from $450 to $1,500, have received an “amazing response,” according to Kalan.
