Tonello continues to innovate the garment finishing process.
The Italian garment finishing technology company recently launched The Laser 2.0, an enhanced version of its popular laser machine.
Tonello says the new fully digital version is a “breakthrough” that sets a new benchmark for speed and quality in denim and garment processing. “According to our internal tests, and confirmed by the feedback of clients already using it, this is the fastest laser machine on the market when we consider both maximum productivity and the consistency of marking quality,” said Marco Visentin, designer and laser specialist at Tonello.
In terms of energy consumption, The Laser 2.0 delivers about a 4 percent reduction compared to the previous version. When it comes to processing times, the savings depend on the type of laser design. On average, Tonello achieves around 15–20 percent faster execution. And with large-scale images, especially when working in the Hyper mode, the reduction can reach up to 30 percent.
The machine’s dynamic focusing system ensures uniform marking, guaranteeing accuracy and consistency across production.
“With The Laser 2.0 we wanted to raise the bar in terms of performance: higher speed, greater precision, and consistent quality. We also worked on the software, making it more intuitive while expanding its capabilities. The feedback from our clients was crucial: they asked for a machine able to deliver more in less time, while still maintaining impeccable detail and finish. That guided us toward a system that combines efficiency with reliability, setting a new technical standard,” Visentin said.
The machine is powered by upgraded Crea, Tonello’s proprietary software developed with laser designers and technicians worldwide. Crea provides intuitive tools, automated optimization, and a wide range of working modes to balance maximum quality with maximum speed. Tools like “wash effect” allow the user to see the result of laser marking on washed garments before actual processing. The software also allows users to edit a design directly on the machine.
Additionally, The Laser 2.0 is fully retrofittable, making it easy to integrate into existing production lines. The laser machine is designed for horizontal operation on a fixed table—ideal for both sampling and production in a large work area.
Tonello introduced The Laser in 2020 as part of a suite of the laser machines and complementary software. Visentin said the industry’s initial response was positive.
“At the same time, we recognized the opportunity to push the technology further. In recent years, the key components have evolved rapidly, and we wanted The Laser not only to integrate these advancements, but to anticipate them,” he said. “Flexibility was another crucial step: while earlier versions were mainly focused on denim and trousers, today the system can be applied to a much wider range of garments and finishes. Compared to the first models, it is now far more versatile. Over the last four years, we have refined every element, making sure the system is not just up to date, but truly ahead of future industry needs.”
Other laser products by Tonello include the Laser Lab, a smaller machine for stores and laboratories; the Laser TM, a machine that allows horizontal and vertical processing; and the Laser Dual, which allows simultaneous work on both the legs of a mannequin.
