Reformation is reaffirming its commitment to clean chemistry.
The Los Angeles-based brand recently became a “Signatory Friend of ZDHC – Brand,” a designation for brands or retailers that want to learn more about Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) and are at an early stage of implementing sustainable chemical management frameworks.
Reformation aims to demonstrate that sustainability and profitability can coexist in fashion. The company integrates low-impact practices across its operations and is committed to become fully circular by 2030.
One way Reformation is eliminating waste and pollution in their supply chain is by ensuring responsible chemical management practices. Last year, the brand introduced a Cleaner Chemistry Supplier Roadmap for their supply chain partners that highlights their priorities for sustainable chemistry, including eliminating hazardous chemicals from wet processing.
As a Signatory Friend of ZDHC – Brand, ZDHC said Reformation can leverage its tools such as the Gateway to monitor the use of ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL) conformant chemicals and the Roadmap to Zero Program that provides suppliers with comprehensive guidance to improve their chemical management.
Currently, Reformation says 85 percent of its products are processed in facilities with a clean chemistry certification like OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or Bluesign.
“Joining the ZDHC Community is an important step forward for Reformation’s commitment to cleaner chemistry. Programs like the Roadmap Zero Program are essential to ensuring continuous improvement without our supply chain and we’re ready to engage and support our suppliers on our shared sustainability journeys,” said Amna Bajwa, Reformation’s product sustainability manager.
ZDHC is a coalition-led organization dedicated to eliminating harmful chemics in textiles, leather and footwear supply chains. While ZDHC Signatories contribute to the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Program both financially and through participation in working groups, Signatory Friends such as Reformation are primarily interested in accessing and utilizing ZDHC solutions rather than participating in their development.
Other signatory friends include Zalando, Eileen Fisher and On.
