Denim was the common backdrop to broad range of prints, knits and tailoring fabrics at Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy last week.
True to the men’s trade show DNA, classic check and plaid outerwear, blazers and vests were prominent. Denim—from broken-in Trucker jackets to cuffed wide-leg dark wash trousers—dressed down the traditional pieces.
Layers were vital—for both the cold weather and style. A button-down shirts and jeans was broken up by a colorful Fair Isle vest and waxed jacket. A denim chose jacket splashed with paint contrasted with faded railroad stripe jeans and a butter yellow polo. A chunky fisherman cardigan was styled over a shrunken jean jacket.
Last year’s Western trend evolved into a more workwear-inspired look. Shearling collars decorated plaid jackets and cream duffle coats. Ranch jackets were worn oversized. Elements like wide brim hats and cow print footwear added a touch of novelty.
Other attendees kept their looks relaxed with wide-leg jeans and sneakers or boots. Washes spanned ’70s blue to washed black.
