New Partnership Brings Guess Jeans to India

Guess Jeans, the Gen Z-oriented denim lifestyle brand launched last year, is widening its global footprint.

This week Guess Inc., which operates the Guess brand in India under its subsidiary, Guess India Pvt Ltd, announced it will launch Guess Jeans in the country through a strategic long-term franchise partnership with Tata Group’s multi-category e-commerce platform, Tata CLiQ (Tata UniStore Limited).

Tata CLiQ plans to create a robust omnichannel presence for the brand, expanding their retail presence through brick-and-mortar stores along with digital storefronts.

Guess Jeans debuted last January at Pitti Uomo. The brand rolled out its first campaign starring model and actress Iris Law and opened its first store in Amsterdam in May. That summer, the brand showcased its propriety Guess Airwash technology developed with Jeanologia at department store popups in Paris and Milan. The wash technology that eliminates the use of pumice stones and significantly decreases water and energy consumption.

Guess Inc. said the expansion in India marks a significant milestone, not just for Guess Jeans but also for the company, in general. Global growth has been a priority for the Los Angeles-based men’s and women’s brand, which also added Rag & Bone to its portfolio last year. Nicolai Marciano, Guess Inc. chief new business development officer, said the company expects “a rapidly expanding and prosperous partnership” with Tata CLiQ.

We are confident that the reimagined Guess Jeans brand, accompanied by our innovative Guess Airwash technology, has long-term potential within the Indian market.”
