Here’s a quick roundup of the latest news from leading denim brands.
Mott & Bow
The loose-fitting denim trend is too big to ignore. This fall New York-based Mott & Bow introduced the brand’s first-ever women’s straight-leg and wide-leg styles.
The D2C brand previously focused its collection on skinny and straight fits.
The new High-Rise Cropped Straight Leg Jean is fitted through the waist and hips, then straight from thigh to hem. The High-Rise Wide Leg has a fuller, more flowing leg opening and is sculpted through the waist and hips.
Both jeans are available in Mott & Bow’s Mercer, Gilmore and Hubert fabrics and in a variety of dark to light indigo washes. The jeans retail for $129.
H&M
Denim plays an integral part of H&M’s collection with Glenn Martens, the creative director of Diesel and Maison Margiela.
Martens’ denim expertise is evident throughout the collection launching in stores and online Oct. 30.
The collection “twists clothing archetypes into new and unexpected forms,” according to H&M. The deeply researched collection takes pieces from H&M’s archive like best-selling T-shirts, checked shirts, bomber jacket and jeans and reimagines them with trompe-l’œil and customization. Many garments feature foil and wiring, allowing the wearer to create sculptural forms.
The collection also pays tribute to the Belgian designer’s work for Y/Project, with various pieces in the collection—from boots through to prints—nodding to key archival designs.
Ksubi
Streetwear brand Ksubi is taking the plunge into swimwear.
The Australian company launched Kswim, women’s line of bikinis designed to complement the brand’s signature denim. The collection features triangle and balconette tops, high-leg bottoms and side-tie bottoms. Designers include trompe-l’œil denim, camoflauge and ribbed Lycra.
“Kswim feels like a natural progression for Ksubi—that Bondi summer lifestyle and Ksubi’s OG surf-punk DNA are intrinsically linked. Denim and swim are the quintessential Australian summer uniform,” said Pip Edwards, Ksubi’s creative director.
The collection is available now on Ksubi’s website and at the brand’s stores in Miami, Melbourne and Bondi.
