Levi’s Taps Vintage Retailer 194 Local for New Garment-Dyed Collection

Levi’s is back with a second collaboration with London-based vintage purveyor 194 Local.

The new collection builds on the garment dye story the brands established in 2022 with their first collaboration. “Equal parts color experiment and sun-soaked travel diary, the collection is a continuation of everything that made the first one work—and then some,” Levi’s described it.

With denim as the base, orange, purple and brown dyes transform 578 Baggy bottoms—a style that references Levi’s early 2000s archives. Levi’s noted that the orange and purple deliver unexpected results.

“Working on this second collection with Levi’s just felt right,” said Elliot Cook, founder of 194. “This time we proper leaned into the fit, kept it baggy, the perfect loose, the kind that just drops how it should. It’s all about that easy shape, nothing forced. You can throw it on however you like, it just sits right.”

Standout pieces include a printed plaid Type II Trucker and a matching pant. Both pieces are made with a PFD ecru base dyed gray or pink. “The Type II was a deliberate choice: its double chest pockets and structured silhouette make it the perfect foil for the boldness of the plaid. Worn as a suit, it’s a statement. Worn separately, it still holds,” Levi’s stated.

An indigo pant is also available as a grounding and versatile counterpoint to the collection’s bolder colors.

194 Local was founded in 2018 in East London. The retailer specializes in menswear and womenswear from the mid-’80s to the late 2000s, with a focus on designers from Europe, the U.S., and Japan. Across their New York, Los Angeles, and London stores, 194 fosters a community centered around product, and nostalgia.

For the launch, photographer Tom Fletcher shot a campaign entirely on film in Trinidad with a small cast and crew including actual staff members and friends of the 194 stores. The campaign reflects
real people, in a real place, looking good without trying too hard,” Levi’s stated.

194 Local’s first collection with Levi’s centered on overdyed Levi’s SilverTab Loose Fit Jeans.
