Ruohan Wang, a Chinese-born artist based in Berlin, applies her vibrant use of color and whimsical designs to a new collection by Lee.
Wang and the Kontoor Brands-owned U.S. heritage brand teamed up for a capsule collection that “celebrates self-love, confidence and independence while honoring the timeless appeal of denim.”
The collection includes women’s jackets, jeans, T-shirts and coverall. Each piece features the artist’s signature floral patterns and exclusive illustrations created specifically for this collaboration.
Designed to wear as a set or separately, Lee’s iconic Rider denim jacket and wide-leg jeans boast the exclusive “Entering the Rose Garden” artwork. Co-branded colorful hardware and patches offer additional artistic flair.
“I have been a fan of Lee since high school,” Wang said. “As a female artist, I have always aimed to express the values of female strength, self-love, and diversity through my work. This collaboration is my tribute to women as well as a nod to the effortless, bold, and sincere style that defines Lee Jeans.”
A denim vest has co-branded light blue hardware and Wang’s “Car” graphic on a vibrant back panel. A mid-rise, light wash jean has a floral graphic on the back pocket and light distressing. A cropped version of Lee’s chore jacket in pink features a small illustration of Wang’s self-portrait. It pairs perfectly with the matching pink skort. Laser printed roses decorate the legs of wide-leg jumpsuit and cotton tees blend Wang’s graphic illustrations and artwork with Lee logos.
The collection retails for $60-$225 and is available in sizes 24-30 for bottoms and XS-XL for tops and the jumpsuit. The collection is available on Lee.com and in owned stores in Asia, Europe and North Carolina.
While Lee recently dropped a men’s collaboration with Paul Smith, the creative partnership with Wang is a new opportunity for Lee to connect with female consumers and to show its heritage designs in fresh and youthful ways.
“This collaboration showcases Lee denim as a canvas for Ruohan Wang’s artwork,” said Joe Broyles, VP of global collaborations, Lee. “Every time you look at a piece, you see a new unique detail that makes this collaboration very fun and fresh and ideal for spring.”
