Kingpins NY Street Style: Cuffed Jeans and Cargos

The best way to find out what’s next in denim fashion is to see what industry insiders are wearing. Attendees at Kingpins New York last month provided a glimpse into fashion’s proverbial crystal ball, revealing a shift toward cuffed jeans, worn-in washes and cargo pockets.

Elements of ’90s grunge and Y2K were spotted at the two-day trade show. A pair of jeans trimmed with metal flat head studs—an emerging Spring/Summer 2024 trend—was styled with a mesh top. A cropped jean jacket was aged with a dirty Diesel-esque tint. A deconstructed denim skirt with trompe-l’œil buckles was capped off with platform stompers. Chunky boots were also paired with one attendee’s pink star-printed denim jumpsuit.

Many attendees cuffed the hems of their relaxed-fitting jeans. The casual jeans were styled with baseball jerseys, colorful camp shirts, embellished denim vests and sneakers. Others wore cropped jeans to show off their sock-and-loafer combos.

A trio showed off their individual taste in outerwear with one wearing a distressed chore jacket, another in an embroidered kimono-style denim jacket and the third sporting the Scandi-cool-girl uniform of an oversized blazer and split hem jeans.

Utility jeans proved to be functional for attendees with their hands full. Acid wash and colorful dye effects gave cargo jeans a bold, youthful look.
