Indigo Shades: Tellason and Lowercase NYC Launch Sunglasses

A new collaboration brings together two timeless style staples—jeans and sunglasses—for the ultimate cool-factor combo.

San Franscico-based denim brand Tellason and Brooklyn-based eyewear brand Lowercase NYC have joined forces for a limited-edition collection of indigo-inspired sunglasses.

Pete Searson, Tellason co-founder, said the partnership was organic from the start. Mutual friends connected the brands, which share a common commitment to American-made design, craft and culture.

“Tony [Patella, Tellason co-founder] and I make the highest possible quality jeans here in San Francisco, the birthplace of blue jeans. Lowercase does the same in their exceptional Brooklyn facility,” Searsonsaid.

The collection reimagines three of Lowercase’s signature styles—the aviator Hustler, the rectangular Ashe and thin profile Cassady—in Marble Blue. The new colorway draws inspiration from Tellason’s signature raw denim.

The brands say the collection demonstrates their “shared commitment to classic forms that transcend trends,” with silhouettes that would feel at home in the ’60s, ’70s or present day.

“We both stay true to silhouettes that could have been the coolest thing in the room in any decade,” Searson added.

Each frame is made with hand polished Mazzucchelli acetate from Italy and Carl Zeiss lenses. The glasses provide 100 percent UVA/UBV protection.

The collection is available now on both brands’ websites. Sunglasses retail for $400.
