It’s not enough for a pair of jeans to look good anymore. For Fall/ Winter 2026-2027, mills are using performance fibers and unique constructions to enhance fabrics with softness, comfort, stretch, durability and thermoregulation.
Mills are navigating stretch in different ways.
Advance Denim is expanding its stretch technologies to support the resurgence of skinny jeans in the market. With Infinity Denim, the mill offers high stretch denim with power and sculpting properties and a consistent 4 percent shrinkage. Mark Ix, Advance Denim’s director of North American marketing, said Infinity enables a new level of stretch performance with exceptional yields and comfort. Advance has also partnered with Lenzing and Roica to create a soft, biodegradable spandex denim, offering the market a sustainable solution for stretch.
“Advance Denim is working closely with our fiber and chemical suppliers to increase our sustainable performance denims. We continue to develop new styles with Naia and Tencel to add softness, sustainability and performance while maintaining a cool comfortable hand,” Ix said.
Scott Gress, Siddiqsons’ president North American, fabric and garments, said the Pakistani mill is seeing stretch levels continue to diverge with comfort stretch taking a bigger share. High stretch is becoming more focused in fewer silhouettes, he added.
“We are pushing the boundaries of denim performance by integrating mechanical stretch capabilities into fabrics typically known for their rigidity,” said Alberto Guzzetti, Prosperity Textile’s European sales manager. “Utilizing new fibers and constructions, we aim to provide a fabric that offers the natural comfort of traditional denim combined with the elasticity and modern appeal demanded by today’s consumers. This development ensures that our denim not only looks good but performs exceptionally well.”
When it comes to fabric production, Intizar Ali, general manager, research and business development of US Group, said the market is moving in two key directions: rigid denim and comfort stretch. “These fabrics offer rich character and cover the full weight spectrum, from heavy to medium and lighter options. They cater to all trending fits, including baggy, wide-leg, mom and balloon styles,” he said.
Rather than limit themselves to cotton and elastane constructions, Intizar Ali, general manager, research and business development of US Group said consumers are increasingly drawn to premium blends with Tencel, linen and other fibers that enhance comfort while preserving the authentic denim aesthetic. “Our collection not only meets these evolving demands but also expands the possibilities with a diverse range of shades and versatile constructions,” he said.
Artistic Milliners is significantly expanding its use of Fitsense from Lycra this season. “We’re introducing an unprecedented range of choices, allowing for greater flexibility and innovation in our fabric designs,” said Baber Sultan, Artistic Milliners director PD/R&D.
Additionally, Artistic Milliners is regrouping with its longtime fiber partner Lenzing to launch Tencel 2.2, a fiber that promises a unique combination of a natural hand feel that is reminiscent of linen, while maintaining the performance of Tencel. Sultan said the partnership will result in a “diverse and compelling collection of fabrics, offering our customers a wealth of options.”
Fiber technologies play an important role in Naveena Denim Mills’ collection. The mill will debut Trueshape Denim, a product line that utilizes Lycra’s Fitsense technology. Berke Aydemir, Naveena Denim Mills’ senior general manager for R&D and technical sales, described Fitsense as “denim engineered for real life,” highlighting how the technology provides targeted shaping and zoned support without compromising the natural look and feel of jeans.
Naveena Denim Mills is introducing silk’s natural benefits like softness, breathability, sheen, and drape into the structure of denim as well. The new Lume collection provides moisture-wicking comfort, hypoallergenic properties and biodegradable sustainability with a touch of elegance for premium ready-to-wear and elevated casualwear.
“Lume invites us to rethink what denim can feel like,” said Aydan Tüzün, senior VP, sales and marketing at Naveena Denim Mills. “It brings together silk’s luxurious tactility with the everyday strength of denim. It’s graceful, but grounded—and that’s a space we’re excited to lead in.”
US Group’s IntelliJeans category features fabrics with advanced performance attributes, including moisture management, thermal regulation and enhanced durability.
The Levi’s supplier is looking beyond specialty fibers to enhance the performance and hand feel of fabrics, however. Ali said US Group mill is engineering yarns that deliver a superior softness without relying on lyocell or viscose blends. Additionally, the mill has successfully developed a 100 percent cotton fabric that excels in both moisture management and thermal regulation, offering natural comfort.
Naveena Denim Ltd. (NDL) is betting on ReLeaf, a performance-driven collection that merges strength, comfort, and sustainability, to accelerate denim in smarter, more responsible direction. The collection is crafted to enhance denim’s durability, thermoregulation, and sustainability while delivering long-lasting comfort with natural fibers.
“We’ve expanded our fibers selection by introducing banana and kapok into the new developments. While hemp and linen have long been part of our innovation, banana and kapok introduces a fresh dimension to denim, enhancing both versatility and performance,” said Umair Masood Tata, NDL director. “Banana fiber enhances resilience while naturally regulating temperature and managing body moisture. Kapok, with its lightweight insulation, adds another layer of functionality—elevating denim’s performance like never before.”
In the latest Tomorrowlab collection, AGI Denim offers denim with Outlast’s phase change material technology for thermal management. The technology applies microencapsulated natural wax to materials, which capture and store body heat, forming a natural heat buffer. The final product is denim that feels cool and comfortable on the skin.
Crescent Bahuman Ltd. is introducing double-face weaves, plush chenille textures, and wool-infused denim for warmth, breathability, and softness. These fabrics are engineered for thermal regulation, flexibility, and lightweight strength—perfect for transitional and colder months.
Bossa is integrating performance by experimenting with fiber blends and structure. Highlights include a rigid denim blended with wool for added warmth and texture, and fabrics with Saxcell, a recycled lyocell that enhances softness and eco-efficiency. “We’re also evolving our lyocell blends across the board and introducing third-generation constructions that add functional value for garment makers seeking elevated, performance-driven denim,” said Selin Ekmekci, Bossa’s marketing executive.
Cone Denim is expanding Conestrong so the collection of workwear denim aligns with denim fashion trends and inject newness into that specific market or allow specialty retailers to introduce a stronger more durable jean into their assortment. “As we keep developing our performance denim to enhance strength and durability, we recognize the importance of providing a tiered approach to products in the workwear market,” said Pierette Scavuzzo, Cone Denim design director.
Workwear is also the theme of Rooted, a year-long project with Maria Gunnarsson of AMK Atelier and a co-op farm in Amsterdam called Rooted. Described as “real workwear for real workers,” the garments were designed by Gunnarsson and made with Cone fabrics and worn by farmers for the past year. Cone will display the worn and faded garments at Kingpins Amsterdam.
Isko is building performance into its collection through a variety of ways. The new We’Raw technology offers a cool, raw denim aesthetic with the practicality of being wearable immediately—perfect for those who love authenticity without the wait of breaking in jeans. With FitWise, the mill offers a new option for shaping and support. Isko Comfort+ enhances elasticity, ensuring jeans moves effortlessly with the wearer and Isko Warm Feel, provide a warm and cozy feel without sacrificing classic denim style.
