Copenhagen Fashion Week: Denim Street Style

Copenhagen Fashion Week lived up to its reputation as a hotbed for creative denim street style.

Compared to previous summer editions that saw items like capris and long shorts emerge as “It” items, the street style at last week’s event was all about denim with unique textures, washes and fits.

Black denim and dark washes were prominent despite the summer sun. Denim and leather were a popular pairing, as well as camouflage and waxy coatings. Skinny or flare low-rise jeans and baggy wide-leg jeans were favorites for edgier looks. Some jeans featured ultra-low zipper closures; others were heavily destroyed and frayed.

Attendees also brought back the early 2000s trend of styling skirts over jeans. Jeans were paired with slip skirts, tulle skirts crochet skirts and matching pleated denim miniskirts.

Toward the end of the fashion week, attendees retreated to more classic and wearable fits. Straight fit jeans were paired with retro logo tees, boho blouses, workwear jackets and oversized trench coats.
