Milanese denim mill Candiani Denim opened Candiani Corner, a multibrand store developed in collaboration with the Bolognese concept store Ferramenta.
Envisioned by Alberto Candiani, with art direction by Paolo Bertacchi, founder of Ferramenta, and interior design by Luca Piccinno, Candiani Corner sets the stage for denim with industrial elements like concrete, steel, and glass elements.
Located in Piazza Mentana in Milan, the store offers exclusive collaborations and Coreva Design, Candiani’s jean brand made exclusively with the world’s first bio-based, plastic-free and compostable stretch fiber natural.
Candiani Corner is directly next to Candiani Custom, the mill’s award-winning micro factory dedicated to creating made-to-measure jeans. Candiani Custom opened in 2021, making it possible for consumers to select the fit, materials and finishes of jeans that are cut, sewn, and washed on-site by skilled artisans. The micro factory uses Candiani’s sustainable denim fabrics and technologies.
For the opening, Coreva Design launched Choose Life, a collection made in partnership with ethical apparel brand Progetto Quid and art directed by model and influencer Gabriela Giovanardi.
The collection spans genderless denim trousers, overalls inspired by a workwear garment found in a vintage market in Venice Beach and a cropped hooded shirt, offered in natural and green. A camo green pencil skirt is also available. Indigo pieces include bomber jacket, button-down shirt and pencil skirt.
The capsule collection’s name, “Choose Life,” stems exactly from the collaborators’ shared values. It is inspired by a campaign promoted by British stylist Katharine Hamnett in the 1980s, which carried a powerful message against the destruction of natural and social ecosystems.
Hamnett’s slogan, “Life is only to be found on this planet and is under threat. Save it,” resonates strongly today and is more significant than ever, Candiani Denim stated.
“It’s inspiring to see how fashion, through conscious effort, can have a positive impact on the planet and on people’s lives,” Giovanardi said.
