Beams is stepping into automotive world.
Nissan recently unveiled “Denim Tribute,” a collection of six car models infused with the Japanese denim brand’s expertise in selvedge denim.
The six models include the Roox, Sakura, Serena, X-Trail, Note and Dayz.
Denim-inspired design elements can be found on their exteriors and interiors. A blue door mirror cover is a nod to indigo. Orange front grill and aluminum wheel accents are inspired by denim’s wheat-colored stitching and Beam’s signature hue. The polyester seat covers are made to look like the reverse side of denim, accented with a selvedge ID, orange stitching and a Beams tab. The floor carpets are bordered in orange as well.
A true co-branded collection, the Beams logo in orange is also featured on the steering wheel, door entrance, and alongside the car emblem.
A limited number of each model is available. Interested buyers can apply for the cars online and arrange for an appointment at a dealership.
Denim jeans have long been a source of inspiration for the automobile industry. American automaker AMC unveiled the Levi’s Gremlin in 1973, a jean-themed hatchback decorated with orange stitching, metal buttons and Levi’s logo. Earlier this year Renault launched the 5 E-Tech with a denim-themed interior. The car is based on the Blue Jeans Edition of the French’s car company’s popular 5 model from 1989.
A denim-clad pickup truck also served as a memorable prop during Beyoncé’s NFL Christmas Halftime Show last week. The 32-time Grammy Award winning artist and Levi’s campaign star performed “Levii’s Jeans,” her duet with Post Malone, against a truck with a patchwork denim skin.
