The global synthetic fiber price index, which tracks the weighted average price for acrylic, nylon, polyester and polypropylene filament yarns and staple fibers, accelerated its recent trend and fell 4.9% compared to a year ago, its eighteenth straight month of decline.
Prices fell in Asia, Western Europe and the USA. In Asia, prices fell by an average of 4.4% compared to the same month last year. Asian prices remain 19% below the world average.
The European index fell by 8%, their steepest decline in six months. European synthetic prices are about 19% above the world average.
The US index fell by 3.1%, its second monthly decrease in five months, though US prices remain 45% above than the world average.
