Shuffle Board: Primaloft Taps Saucony Exec, Birkenstock Adds China MD

Kohl’s

Kohl’s announced a planned transition to its board of directors. After 15 years of service as Kohl’s director, board chair Peter Boneparth will retire at the end of his current term in May, succeeded by Michael Bender, who has served on the board since 2019 and is chair of the nominating and ESG committee and an audit committee member. The board also appointed Adolfo Villagomez as a new independent director, effective Nov. 7. Villagomez, CEO of Progress Residential, brings more than two decades of leadership and retail experience, including previously serving in leadership roles at The Home Depot.

Beyond—previously known as Overstock, which now operates as Bed Bath & Beyond—announced that Jonathan Johnson has stepped down as CEO and as a member of the board of directors, effective immediately. The board is looking to find a new permanent CEO.

An experienced global brand leader, she is expected to join the company by Spring 2024 and report to Stefan Larsson, PVH CEO. She is currently the managing director of Cos and previously led the repositioning and brand growth of Arket as part of her 10-year tenure with the H&M Group.

Birkenstock

Birkenstock has appointed Tiffany Wu as managing director of Greater China, effective Nov. 1. She will lead the Greater China business area—encompassing mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan—driving brand equity and sales. She reports to Klaus Baumann, chief sales officer of the Birkenstock Group.

Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie & Fitch elected Arturo Nuñez to its board of directors, effective Nov. 7. Nuñez is the founder and CEO of AIE Creative, a firm creating brand strategies and marketing experiences. He has also held previous leadership positions at Apple, Nike and the National Basketball Association, serving in marketing and general management roles across various markets. He currently serves on the board of directors for The Estée Lauder Companies.

Dan Hess Syndigo

SaaS commerce data management provider Syndigo hired Dan Hess as chief product officer and an executive leadership team member. Hess was most recently global chief product officer for The NPD Group, now known as Circana. Before NPD, Hess served as chief product officer of Comscore, a media delivery and consumption measurement firm across digital, TV and box-office platforms.

SymphonyAI

Predictive and generative AI enterprise SaaS company SymphonyAI has appointed retail veteran Todd Harbaugh as an independent board member. Harbaugh’s extensive retail experience includes serving as executive vice president of Walmart Supercenters and EVP of Walmart Neighborhood Markets for the United States. He is the third external board member to join the company’s board.

Anne Cavassa PrimaLoft

Advanced materials technology company PrimaLoft hired Anne Cavassa as its new president. She most recently held the title of president of Saucony and has also held leadership roles at companies including Brooks Running, Nike and Timberland. Mike Joyce will continue to lead the company as CEO, while Cavassa will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations.
