Nilit Launches Sensil Toughtex Nylon 6.6 Yarn

Conventional nylon yarn has gotten an eco-friendly upgrade.

Nilit has introduced Sensil Toughtex, a more resilient and abrasion-resistant nylon 6.6 yarn with a lower environmental impact. Designed for use in protective apparel, Toughtex is engineered for long-lasting garments that require lightweight flexible durability for ease of wear.

“Consumers in occupations or activities that require serious protective clothing want all the technical features plus they want to make smarter choices for the planet,” said Nilit’s vice president of global marketing Michelle Lea. “They will not compromise on comfort, function, or environmental footprint.”

Performance apparel made with Sensil Toughtex yarn offers comfort and durability, and has greater tear strength and abrasion resistance than conventional nylon yarns, according to Nilit. Applications include long-lasting workwear and protective apparel for biking, skateboarding, skiing and other abrasion-prone activities, in addition to use in other items like socks, shoes, bags, activewear, outerwear, gear and denim.

Sensil Toughtex can be used with fabric weights as low as 100 grams per square meter. It is manufactured according Nilit’s Total Product Sustainability Program and can be enhanced with other Sensil technologies such as WaterCare color-embedded nylon 6.6 for water savings, EcoCare recycled nylon 6.6 and ByNature for lower CO2 emissions.
