Lagos-born and London-based fashion designer Mowalola Ogunlesi has made waves with her eponymous label Mowalola, fueling bold and unconventional designs with stylistic inspiration from London street culture, the Nigerian rock scene, and beyond. Now, she’s channeling all of that avant-garde energy into a whole new project: a just-launched collaboration with Crocs that wraps the iconic Bae Clog in two unforgettable, must-have prints.
There’s something inherently grungy in the two styles on offer, seeing as how the Crocs x Mowalola Bae Night Camo Clog has a spray-painted appearance and rids the silhouette of its classic ankle strap — creating an iteration that’s more city-coded and streamlined. The second shoe, Crocs x Mowalola’s Bae Graffiti Clog, evokes the graffiti trend flaunted during Coach‘s fall 2025 runway presentation, where it treated formalized designer handbags to the markedly youthful, carefree energy of freehanded scribbles. So too does this aesthetic take the Bae Clog to fresher heights, no shoe charms or Jibbitz required.
Swathed in a military-green hue, with hand-drawn scrawls on its upper, the Crocs Bae Clog feels more ready than ever to pair with your cargo pants, bomber jackets, leather chain belts, and other fall staples that leave coquettishness and preppiness in the rearview mirror, instead settling on something much more punk (but in a refined way, of course).
For London Fashion Week last year, Mowalola made sure to leave a lasting impression by infusing its show with lots of texture play (including the mixing and mingling of latex and leather) and performance art. Ogunlesi’s venue? A warehouse, which was an apt fit for the provocative nature of her collection, punctuated by fearless shapes and materials. All things considered, joining forces with Crocs might feel like a strange choice for a label that’s at the forefront of fashion’s counterculture as we speak. But Mowalola embraces collaborations with open arms, having in the past paired up with the likes of Bratz, New Balance, Marc Jacobs, Timberland, and other trailblazers in their respective industries. For Mowalola, the more radical and unexpected the collab, the better; when it comes to Crocs, it’s flying high after ultra-successful collections with Simone Rocha, Salehe Bembury, and other buzzy designers, so taking on Mowalola as a partner feels like an organic continuation of this pattern.
