It’s been 10 years since Erin Fetherston’s first showing during New York Fashion Week — a milestone that had her looking back and taking stock of who she is as a designer and looking forward to creating more positive, relaxed and authentic designs via the eponymous line she’d put on hold the past few years. Spring was a step toward that goal as the designer delivered a refined take on bohemian dressing with a joyful spirit.
She showed ethereal, flowy dresses galore, done in some of recent fashion’s biggest hits: cold-shoulder, off-shoulder, sheer, ruffle accents. Light and airy fabrications in a predominantly dusty rose, gray, blue and white palette kept the message feminine and light. Fetherston balanced the dresses with soft-tailored suiting and metallic sequins for the truly confident, seen in jumpsuits, slipdresses and trousers. A collaboration with denim label Parker Smith produced a limited-edition 10-piece capsule with vintage washed sailor jeans, jumpsuits and tops to round out a more realistic wardrobe.
