Greek designer Christina Economou played with contrasts in her latest lineup, juxtaposing floaty, romantic looks with boyish attitude. Case in point: A fluid, floral-printed silk maxidress — featuring a leafy botanical motif inspired by vintage wallpaper — looked ethereal yet cool styled under an oversize, bubblegum-pink denim jacket.
Outerwear, rendered in rich fabrics in vivid colors with unexpected embellishments, was the collection’s highlight. Take, for example, a boxy cloqué coat done in lavender and pink brocade with a mandarin collar. There were Bermuda shorts to match and take the look maximal. More quiet but still charming was a collarless cotton linen safari jacket with hand-embroidered bird and floral appliqués.
Novelty denim continues to be a strong category for the brand — the collection’s striped trouser jeans, cut with a relaxed fit, were a great compliment to Economou’s range of playful, sexy cropped tops.
