The bohemian label from California, presenting in Paris for the first time, channeled a Somerset garden party this season, honing in on patchworks of mix-and-match florals as well as pretty Victoriana references such as lace inserts and broderie anglaise.
“Think Charlotte Rampling running around in the countryside,” said Rachel Wilder, Joie’s vice president of design.
Comfortable maxidresses and loose, burnt terra-cotta silk pants with a lived-in look were key, as were embroidered peasant blouses — one of the brand’s key references — done here in white with a red cross-stitch design. Touches of Seventies-style denim were also thrown in for the feel-good factor.
