Tomas Maier’s spring 2016 lineup, consistent with his casual-side-of-life philosophy, offered breezy looks that could transition seamlessly from the city to a weekend getaway. Cotton dresses, for example, ranged from a red shirt style with a generous skirt and asymmetric buttons to a black cutout number. He also offered simple linen slipdresses in a bright palette, which he envisions as a staple in his customer’s wardrobe.
On a more inspired note, he offered peasant blouses paired with full skirts, pom-pom embroidery on a denim jacket and along the waistline of a fit-and flare-dress, and fitted cardigans over colorful intarsia slipdresses — all of which hinted at Southern Spain. “A little bit of Miró, Dalí in the air,” Maier said. “[Spring’s] condensed — it does not stay that long in the store — [so it] should be very appetizing.”
