Some of Jeffrey Dodd’s favorite childhood memories are of his family trips driving through America’s Southwest and collecting kachina dolls. For spring, he looked to these ancient, spiritual Native American figurines for inspiration. So how did a refined designer such as Dodd translate this tribal theme into his collection? By drawing on elements of texture.
The spring lineup had an artisanal influence with custom fabrics such as stand-up sequins, frayed fringe and basket-weave techniques — all unique textile treatments on minimal silhouettes. Key looks included a frayed fringe tuxedo pant, a hooded suede poncho, a basket-weave coat with leather insets and a hooded sequin top.
