“I finally get to do sportswear,” an excited Zac Posen said as he presented a preppy-chic lineup for Brooks Brothers. The new creative director for women’s wear stayed true to the label’s established DNA — “I’m not changing the codes of the house,” he said — and the collection was filled with classics given an updated twist.
Retro-inspired prints found their way onto crisp shirt dresses. In an ode to men’s wear, there were plenty of bold plaids and soft tweeds in everything from chic dresses to a cropped pantsuit. Posen also showed feminine, ladies-who-lunch looks, including a little red skirt suit. And because everyone needs a spring coat, he offered a beautifully tailored and embroidered topper.
