Mark Badgley and James Mischka, presented a beautiful and light-handed evening collection for Badgley Mischka. A lot of the spring looks were playful, ethereal and even unusually restrained — but nonetheless glamorous. Tulle dresses flaring with gold-foil butterflies, daisy appliqués on lean skirts and swingy dresses, as well as shorts and dressy rompers all reflected the duo’s fun approach to fashion. They showed a vintage yellow or ivory floral print on a short crepe dress, a long gown in pleated chiffon and beneath a lovely tiered layer of black floral lace. Glass and sea beads as well as baby sequins adorned nude organza gowns, short dresses and blush tulle tea-length versions.

Any dialogue on lengths was not applicable here, as Badgley and Mischka were equally as comfortable with minis as they were with ankle-grazers — and everything in between. “Once skirt lengths had to be 15 to 17 inches; a few years ago, it was 27 inches or nothing. We like extremes and now it’s all moot, depending on shape and proportion,” said Badgley, who along with Mischka, got it right every which way.
