Designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi took their romantic design signatures in a graphic, edgier direction for spring.
The duo worked with pretty florals and delicate devoré fabrics, but toughened them up with overlays of a black-and-white print resembling computer-drawn shapes or finishing them with sheeny Lurex.
One faded pink floral dress was printed with sprigs of flowers and covered in the black-and-white print, and then tied with a belt that had industrial-looking D-rings.
Among the standouts were designs that melded floaty, feminine shapes with strong design details, as in maxi dresses with skirts in gothic black chiffon, printed with tiny wildflowers. They featured tops made from bandagelike strips of black material that wound around the body.

Thornton and Bregazzi also offset the more feminine elements of the lineup with masculine details, lending the collection a cool insouciance. Among them were heavy leather jackets worn over lace dresses, the shiny flat oxford shoes that models wore, and a few oversize trenches, one in a black-and-white gingham check. This striking collection stuck to the designers’ formula of fusing together disparate design elements to create their own look, but took their aesthetic in a stronger direction than in seasons past.
