Designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos spun a recent trip to Greece into a collection that was filled with cool cotton, smocking and lace. “Smocking has a magical effect on fabric, and we loved placing it all over the body,” de Vos said.
The resulting dresses — some strapless — were body hugging and delightfully stretchy, while cropped tops featured jaunty smocking on the sleeves or shoulder straps. Elsewhere, the designers spent time adorning their looks with fun details: a single ruffle running diagonally across the top of a cropped knit; little drawstrings on striped cotton skirts and tops; and bits of fluttery lace on skinny skirts.
