Change is relative, as anyone who has been to a Martin Grant show knows. The designer doesn’t operate in seismic shifts, instead turning out variations on elegant wardrobe staples for society ladies like Lee Radziwill, who was among the guests at his spring display.
These included belted wrap coats done in a variety of fabrics, from an upscale denim to an ultraluxurious navy silk satin with white polka dots. This was one of the key shapes, along with high-waisted capri pants and voluminous ball skirts, one of which split open to reveal a shorts suit underneath.
Some of these looks felt like they were stuck in the Sixties. Not so the fabulous jumpsuits with pleated pants, which included a wafting navy silk chiffon version with a chic cape back.
