Thakoon Panichgul is far from the first creative type to be lured by Tahiti’s mystique and it yielded beautiful results for him, too. Silk robes with fringe accents and tropical florals done in burgundy and blue evoked a sophisticated French-Polynesian vibe. The clothes had a louche, womanly feel underscored by soft fabric and draped details, such as a floral dress with bare shoulders and paillette embroidering. Press notes cited “the evolving Bohemian mood” of the label. Indeed, Panichgul has been going in that direction lately, taking more risks in terms of eclectic decoration. In this case, some of those ideas seemed experimental for experimentation’s sake, such as the graphic striped tank trimmed with long, bright-blue raffia fringe. If those checked the directional box on the lineup, the rest of the collection struck a note of confident femininity and individualist attitude.
