For spring, Lela Rose looked to Japan for inspiration. She used traditional wood-cuts and water-flower prints for her full-skirted kimono-esque shirts and coatdresses, embroidered mesh tops and cutout gowns. Rose also opted for polka dots — sometimes mixed with florals, sometimes solo — like the terrific, outsized dotted black-and-white organza coatdress. She deftly handled a variety of skirt lengths ranging from an above-the-knee pencil shape to a full midcalf silhouette. Even the most ladylike looks had a decidedly sexy slant in this charming show.
