Feminine elements juxtaposed masculine references in Peter Jensen’s latest collection. The result: a relaxed, youthful lineup with a hint of a street appeal. A boyish hooded anorak jacket was paired with shorts with flouncy scalloped hems — both done in a houndstooth check. Tailored shirt-striped fabrics appeared on a billowy shirtdress that gathered and tied at the waist and on high-waisted, ankle-length skirts.
Known for his colorful and whimsical prints, Jensen revived old graphics from previous collections — a big apple from spring 2009, florals from spring 2007 — enlarging and manipulating the images for a 3-D effect. The patterns were appliquéd onto a polo shirt, cardigan and smock dresses and skirts, some with pleats. Cheerful yellow, blue and rainbow prints brightened the basic black and gray palette.
