An image of Françoise Hardy on the December 1966 cover of the French magazine Formidable resonated with Rebecca Minkoff for the “casual elegance, effortless chic and tomboy style” the chanteuse exuded. It also triggered the “return to Mod” that Minkoff favored this season. To that end, a key silhouette was the A-line mini fashioned in black laser-cut wool as well as a skirt paired with a jacket and sleeveless mini shift dress.
Minkoff addressed the buy-now, wear-now customer in cooler climates with a diamond-print sweater paired with a blue, pink and gold lamé mini that kept both the temperature and the holiday season in mind. For warmer locales, a crochet lace group featured a handkerchief-hem dress paired with a two-tone cropped moto jacket and a smart black lace shirtdress. Leathers are always part of Minkoff’s offerings and of late she’s favored suede, which stood out here in a brown leather vest with removable faux-fur fox collar, a pale blue fringed jacket and a black fringed and beaded mini — in an A-line shape, of course.
