Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, the design duo behind Cushnie et Ochs, are known for their sexy cut-out dresses, but for resort the girls softened things up. Inspired by the Amazon, they played with ruffles and cascading flounces that had a playful Latin flair on everything from cropped tops to a dramatic tiered skirts.
The poison dart frog, indigenous to the region, was an obvious point of inspiration, translated into tropical ombré colors — as in a curvaceous strapless sequin dress and a pencil skirt paired with a cropped top. Sequins were a first for the designers, as were dot prints, which they worked into a halter jumpsuit with a plunging V-neck that was more subdued but still strong and sexy.
