Louise Trotter, Joseph’s creative director, looked to the simple, sports-influenced silhouettes of the Nineties for resort. “It’s a reference point that I go to a lot…the simplicity, naturalness, ease and honesty of dressing at that time, it was really kind of stripped-back,” said Trotter. But to put Joseph’s modern stamp on those easy, sporty looks — such as parkas, track pants and languid, long pleated skirts — the designer worked them in luxurious fabrics. She did an anorak in gray, double-faced cashmere, while track pants and matching T-shirt tops came in ultrasoft nubuck suede and napa leather in muted shades of gray, chocolate brown and peachy pink.

And in what she called a nod to “semigrunge,” Trotter did a series of pieces in both a bleached-out check and faded floral print, which channeled a pretty-with-an-edge vibe. A flowing, asymmetric-hemmed tank dress came in the floral print, which Trotter paired with a fluid trenchcoat in the russet and cream blurred check.
