Returning to his abiding themes of science and the mechanics of the human body, Christopher Kane took the heart as his resort motif, working the classic shape into Swiss lace lapels on jackets, collars or elbow patches on cashmere knits, and crystal adornments around the necklines of little black dresses.
This youthful, feminine collection was packed with ideas and offered sweet, sinister and scientific elements in equal doses: A transparent raincoat was made from black Chantilly lace encased in plastic, while thick, suturelike stitching wound its way over skirts, tops and knits. One demure lace knit dress, inspired by Kane’s MA collection at Central Saint Martins, had extralong sleeves, a high collar and wouldn’t have been out of place in Morticia Addams’ closet.

Kane also worked molecule shapes — tiny candy-colored dots — across tweed suits and dresses, and sprinkled small colored crystals across a black felted wool jacket. For resort, he introduced high- and low-top sneakers as well. Made from black lace-printed leather or neon Neoprene, they all fasten with his signature safety buckle.
