Kim Bekker may embrace boho, cool-girl chic, but she also knows that clothing also needs to work for women, 24/7.
Her pre-fall collection was full of glamorous basics, some with a 1950s, sporty edge. There were Capri pants in black and white; a sailor-style sweater with toggles on the shoulder; and a host of jackets that ranged from the extravagantly bright and furry to the more collegiate, as in a corduroy style with puff-shoulders.
A liquid slip dress and roomy trousers added a Nineties edge to the collection, as did leather jackets, batwing sleeves on dresses and slingback heels.

Bekker said the Capri pants were non-negotiable. “They have a subtle elegance to them, showing off the legs in a sophisticated way. I couldn’t find the exact pair I wanted, so in the end we find ourselves designing what we desire,” she said.
The overall collection, she added, came from a place of practicality. “For us, fashion can mean many things. We can be creative, but there needs to be a wearability to the clothes. We wanted them to be rooted in reality,” said Bekker, adding that she’s been examining data from the brand’s global fleet of stores, and listening to customers.
She also put the focus on natural, durable fabrics such as leather, linen, cotton, silk and velvet in her quest to conjure everyday glamour.
