For pre-fall, Tadashi Shoji referred to Africa and the works of Henri Rousseau, yielding a colorful lineup replete with intricate tribal details. Shoji used leaf embroidery to express Rousseau’s jungle motifs on a long-sleeved black gown and a short red dress, and hand embroidery that echoed Masai beadwork stood out on a short black dress with a trumpet hem.
